Austin Real Estate Market Report
Single-family home sales jumped within the city of Austin but declined across the Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in October, according to the latest Central Texas Housing Market Report released today by the Austin Board of REALTORS®.
In the city of Austin, single-family home sales climbed 7.5 percent year-over-year to 703 home sales in October. Median price increased 6.5 percent year-over-year to $332,250 and active listings increased 11.3 percent year-over-year to 1,667 listings.
The report also stated that despite an increase in single family home sales in the city of Austin, single-family home sales fell across the Austin-Round Rock MSA overall in October 2016, declining 3.1 percent year-over-year to 2,219 home sales. According to Aaron Farmer, president of the Austin Board of REALTORS®, “Homes within Austin’s city limits continue to be in strong demand, despite having a significantly higher price point than housing stock in surrounding areas.”
