Halloween Guide 2016
Halloween, anticipated by children and adults alike, is a time of year for trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, decorating, carving pumpkins, apple bobbing, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories and watching horror films. Choosing which Halloween event to attend can be a scary prospect. So, we’ve put together a Halloween Guide 2016 for Austin and the surrounding areas.
HOUSE OF TORMENT

Torment is reborn! This Halloween Season, House of Torment haunted house moves to a new, larger, permanent home doubling in size to span 40,000 square feet. It will feature 3 brand new haunted houses including: Dawn of Evil, The Frenzy, and Graveside Manor.
AUSTIN ZOMBIE HUNT
824 Grand Avenue, Pflugerville, TX 7860
Ride on their Zombie fighting trailers and shoot the Zombies along the way. Don’t worry they cannot shoot back. For the 2016 Zombie hunting season, they will be open Friday and Saturday nights from 7:30pm – 11pm from now thru Oct 29th, 2016.
HAUNTED TRAILS AT PIONEER FARMS

The Haunted Halloween Trails event will be at all sites, with three spooky trails, food trucks, storytellers and more.

AUSTIN SÉANCE AT THE HIGHBALL

Venture into the gloom with Austin Séance hosts Albert Lucio and Jake D. Cordero as they examine the history of the American spiritualist movement, demonstrate tools used by working mediums and then employ those tools in a modern recreation of an old-time séance in The Highball Midnight Manor Room.
GEORGETOWN HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL

This fun family event will definitely get you into the spirit of Halloween, so get dressed up and come on out! Every weekend from September 24 – November 13, 2016, this farm in Bastrop will hold a Fall Festival & Corn Maze where the kids can get lost in a 5-acre corn maze, play in a frontier fort or climb on the giant shipwrecked sandbox. They also have a giant jumping pillow and a barrel train for the kids to ride. Enjoy live music, farm animals, and of course, pumpkins, too. Concessions sold onsite.
ELGIN CHRISTMAS TREE FARM

The farm will be open every-day beginning October 4, 2016 for October Fall Fun. They have hayrides, animals to visit, mazes, mini pumpkin decorating, playgrounds, picnic areas, pumpkin photo ops and hay jumps. Parents can enjoy the live music while the kids stay busy decorating pumpkins, competing in the rubber duck races and playing on the playground.

In the month of October, every Saturday Sunday, Evergreen Farms in Elgin will be open for the Pumpkin Hunt. You’ll get a wagon ride around the farm, access to a toddler play area, pumpkin recipes, pumpkin decorating (with purchase of pumpkin), a bean bag toss and a petting zoo. There are also other activities like a pumpkin hunt, pumpkin launcher, pumpkin maze, pumpkin slide, train ride, pumpkin golf and more. You can also ride an authentic pumper fire truck around the farm.
SWEET BERRY FARMS

This Marble Falls farm offers the Fall Fun Harvest, open from September 24 – November 6. Activities include hayrides, a train, a maze, sand art, horse rides, stuff a scarecrow, face painting, giant jumping pillows and homemade ice cream made with the goods from the farm.
THE JERSEY BARNYARD

This Pumpkin Patch is open every-day from the last weekend in September through October. They will have pumpkins, squash, gourds, decorative corn and corn stalks. Free pumpkin painting is available with the purchase of a pumpkin. Families can also take a tour of the farm which includes feeding animals, milking a cow and a hay ride.
ROBINSON FAMILY FARM

This family owned farm has a Pumpkin Patch with activities and special events such as a corn maze, hay rides, arts & crafts, and animals to visit. And you can be sure to pick out just the right pumpkin for your family. Open through October 30 on Saturdays and Sundays.
CROWE’S NEST FARM

This farm offers four Fall Family Fun Days this year: October 8, 15, 22, & 29! In addition to pumpkins, there will be lots of local vendors selling everything from fresh organic produce, eggs, honey, jam, and bread, to a variety of hand-made crafts, plus lots of special events, like raptor shows, snake lessons, a corn and potato cannon booth, and much more.
SOUTH TEXAS MAIZE
911 US-90, Hondo, TX 78861
This pumpkin patch and corn maze is a couple of hours away in Hondo, Texas, but it is huge and worth noting. The season is open through November 15, 2016. South Texas Maize is open for Fall Fun Friday-Sunday. Activities include jumps on their bounce pillows, a cow train, a worm slide, a goat walk, campfires with s’mores, hayrides, and more.
