Holidays at the Domain provides fun events for the whole family throughout the holiday season. Here you can take pictures with Santa, ride horse-drawn carriages, watch holiday lights shows, listen to strolling carolers and even go through Elf training.
This awe-inspiring tree consists of over 3,300 Christmas lights and stands more than 150 tall. What a brilliant way to enjoy the season! The tree will be on display nightly until the 31st of December from 6pm-midnight.
The German-Texan Heritage Society offers shoppers hand-made, imported crafts including plenty of Christmas themed decorations such as nutcrackers and ornaments. It is a festival atmosphere with traditional German Christmas music, tables full of handcrafted items direct from the Erzgebirge region of Germany, a visit by both our historic American Santa Claus and the traditional German Sankt Nikolas with gifts for the children, a hospitality serving of Glühwein (hot spiced wine), coffee, apple cider/juice and gingerbread cookies and plenty of German style baked goodies for purchase.
Check out the Trail of Lights before it opens to the general public during this family-friendly 2-mile run. It starts at the Zilker Tree and meanders through the Trail of Lights.
The annual Holiday Sing-Along & Downtown Stroll presented by Downtown Austin Alliance, KUT 90.5, and KUTX 98.9 is a free, family-friendly event that celebrates the arrival of the holiday season and the joy it brings. The event features live entertainment, photos with Santa, a special holiday edition of the SFC Farmers’ Market, and much more!
Hit the roof for a unique holiday skating event! Skating on the Plaza takes place on the roof of the Whole Foods Market on South Lamar. Lots of fun for the whole family! Admission includes skate rental.
The holiday season officially begins with the return of Ballet Austin’s The Nutcracker, now celebrating its 54th year as the longest-running production of its kind in the State of Texas. It features enchanting sets and costumes, animated choreography, and a cast of hundreds, including Ballet Austin’s professional company of dancers and the accomplished students of the Ballet Austin Academy. Enjoy this heart-warming tradition with your family and friends!
The 41st season of the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar is an 11 day, fine art shopping destination featuring national and local award-winning artists, with live music and two full bars in a festive, lively atmosphere. Find an exciting variety of upscale art, handmade gifts, heirloom pieces and stocking stuffers for everyone on your list from over 160 carefully curated artists. Enjoy at least three bands per day on the Armadillo stage with set times for any lifestyle at 11am, 3pm and 7pm.
Bring in the New Year with a free, fun and family-friendly celebration. Austin’s New Year will transform Vic Mathias Shores into a wonderland of music, art, special performances and of course, Austin’s legendary food favorites. The 2016 event will include music, food trucks, kid’s activities, multiple art installations, and the traditional fireworks finale at 10 p.m.
The Trail of Lights in Zilker Park (near downtown) is a beautiful, festive mile walk through dazzling light displays. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and gather the whole family for a night of lights and fun for all ages! Open until December 21, 2014 from 7-10pm, gate fee is required December 17-23.
The FREE family friendly synchronized music and light show runs at the top of the hour, each hour, from 6pm-11pm. This year, alongside their famous seasonal hot chocolate, we will be featuring tons of new treats including Pizza Rolls provided by Austin’s Pizza, fresh cotton candy, decadent brownie sundaes, and happy face cupcakes inspired by this year’s light show theme! Come on out and enjoy the deck overlooking Lake Austin. It’s magical! The show goes on every night through January 8, 2017.
The neighborhood is almost 100% LED Christmas lights this season, and the street Christmas tree is now all LED. We boast a display greater than 250,000 lights and the street Christmas tree alone has over 10,000 lights. Lights and music until New Year’s Eve from 5pm-10pm (11pm on Fridays and Saturdays). They collect new unwrapped toys and cash donations for SafePlace and Blue Santa.

This year will their 3rd Annual light show benefitting Make-A-Wish Central and South Texas. Nightly from 6-10 p.m. through the entire month of December. Enjoy nearly 100,000 lights synchronized to over 80 channels of musical animation. Multiple lit trees, arches, Christmas features, and visits from Santa. Be sure to make your donation to Make-A-Wish on this website or at the display in the donation boxes on the front lawn by the Make-A-Wish star.
Amazing Christmas Light Display with over 25,000 red, white and blue LED lights. 18ft tall, 2000 LED custom Christmas tree that will change up to 2 million colors with pictures, words, and designs on it. All which is synchronized to music.
In December, experience the 5th annual Rock’N Lights Holiday Light Tour featuring all new displays and a bigger and brighter Christmas Towne. Rock’N Lights is a drive-through light show that features thousands of sparkling lights through Old Settlers Park until Dec. 26. With 2 million lights, the 1.5-mile path is the must-see event of the season! Christmas Towne features light displays, full-scale carnival rides, light maze, pedal go kart rides, holiday food, entertainment and more.
